The following is an excerpt of my novel The Age of Show Business, which can be purchased here. It is a cover letter sent by a character to a television network where she would like to work.

To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is to express my strong and sincere interest in the positions open at NBN Networks. With my background in Organizational Corporate Communication & Planning and an emphasis in Strategic Media Product Management (as well as a passion for the sharing of information), I know I will be an integral member of your already winning team.
Though I take pride in my academic achievements, I believe it is my ability to lead by example that truly sets me apart from other candidates. In fact, I am the recipient of several leadership awards and placed third in Syracuse University’s prestigious “Young American Leaders Leading Leaders Leadership Contest.” In addition, I was named “100 Creekwood Youth Leaders to Watch” by The Creekwood Gazette. The stipulation for qualifying in this list was that one must have goals and be PASSIONATE about having goals and pursuing those goals and leadership and having passion. I’ve attached my senior project, entitled Synergy Today, so you have a better gauge of my philosophies of synergizing a team. I also like people. They are neat.
Overall, what is needed in the current media landscape is a passion for the work being done, a dedication to your team members and an overall infectious positive demeanor.
